It’s FINALLY Here!!

Today we were pysched to pick up the new Canon 5D Mark II, I just started using it and it is amazing! Can’t wait to share with all of you some of the crazy things we are going to do with it!!

5D Mark II - It’s Finally Coming!!…CS4 is also on it’s way.

So we woke up this morning to an e-mail from Vicki telling us to check out a link for the new 5D. So for all of you photographer’s out there, the new 5D Mark II is finally here and is supposed to be available at the end of November. It has some really cool features like full frame 21mp and HD Video capabilities as well as 25,600 ISO!!. And the best part this all comes at a very reasonable price tag: $2700.00! If you would like to check it out here is the link at Canon’s site.

I do agree with what Becker had to say about it this morning, better gear doesn’t make you a better photographer but if you are in the market to upgrade your camera body this is definetely worth checking out!! Oh yeah, CS4 is also coming out next week, for more info on that, check out Adobe’s Site!

Kathleen @ 1.2

So since getting my new 85 1.2 yesterday, I couldn’t put it down. I have a 30 1.4 and still love that lens but shooting at 1.2 is simply amazing. I shot these 2 quick photos of Kathleen in a very dim room with the lens opened up all the way with only available light. 1.2 is razor thin but so sweet.

New Prime Lens!!

I have been waiting a really long time to get this lens. It is Canon’s 85mm F1.2 lens and wow is it a great lens. It came in today, only minutes ago. I can’t wait to shoot with it!! This lens is an amazing portrait lens and has GREAT bokeh.

New Video Light!!

So every time I go to either the WPPI or PPA conferences, I always come back with a list of things that I want to do to improve both my photography and the business. After WPPI this year one of the things I wanted to get right away was a video light so I could do some really cool things with light and create some really great pictures. What is really nice about this particular light is that is has a dimmer and a control for the scope of the light. (Thank you Jerry Ghionis for the recommendation) I’m psyched that UPS delivered my brand new Lowel ID light in which I will be bringing to all the weddings that I am photographing. I can’t wait to share some photos with you all after I use it.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

One Sweet Brownie

The other day, I went out to lunch with my friends Tony & Joe. Tony works for me as one of my videographers for weddings and events that we capture. Anyways he knew that I have been starting an old camera collection. His father has a bunch of old cameras and he brought to me a fun little piece of photography history. The camera is an old Kodak Brownie. This wasn’t a professional camera but something that was very popular. It is actually hard to find these in good condition. It is amazing to see how far photography has come.

If there is anyone out there that has old camera equipment and wants to get rid of it, please let me know. Thank you Tony!!

New OLD Cameras

So I have been wanting to find some really great old film cameras for a while now. I have kept an eye out on eBay and a couple of other places but nothing has really jumped out and caught my eye. It seems when you don’t look for something for a little while it seems to find you.

My wife Kathleen, and her friends on a whim went to an estate sale yesterday in Fairfield. She told me she saw some old camera equipment their but didn’t know if it was what I was looking for. After she told me about this, I had to go back with her today. I thought for sure that there wouldn’t be anything as it is very rare to find old cameras in good condition.

That being said we walked into the house and right there in the front room I found two very cool cameras in near perfect condition. The first camera is a beautiful Pentax SP1000 with 2 lenses (a 55mm f2.0 and a 135mm f2.8). This camera and the 2 lenses are fully manual. The second camera is a Minolta 7000 also with 2 lenses (a 35-70 and a 100-200). This camera is slightly newer and has some automatic features. Both cameras came with all their original parts and owner manuals. I can’t wait to buy some nice black and white film and shoot some cool pictures. Kodak T-Max here I come, maybe a 1600 speed film for that nice B/W grainy feel. I am definitely thankful for Kathleen for finding these cameras.

I think I may bring one of the cameras to weddings with me and shoot a roll or two of film to add an artistic quality. Here are a couple pictures of the cameras. Oh yeah, pay close attention to the Pentax, not only is it fully manual, but there is not a plastic part making up this tank of a camera. Once I take some pictures with both cameras, I will make sure I share some of them. I will of course have to scan them first.

While at the estate sale, Kathleen and I also found this old Polaroid Camera that I got just for fun. I hope I can still find film for it because this would be serious fun to take a couple snapshots with. Take a look!!
