A View from the Top

Yesterday as part of my ongoing PR coverage for Sacred Heart University, I got to enjoy an afternoon of choral and band music at the Edgerton Center for Performing Arts. I have photographed many events at this theater and I always strive to be creative with how I shoot.

A couple moments before the university band took the stage I decided to climb up a latter which leads to a attic / crawl space above the theater. This is how you access all of the lighting right above the stage. I thought it would be cool to photograph the band from some of the lighting cutouts directly above the stage. I loved the bird’s eye view that I was able to capture. Here is one of my favorite shots that I wanted to share.

John McCain @ SHU

Today John McCain and his entourage came to Sacred Heart for a presidential rally. I was asked to photograph the event for the university. It was certainly a crazy day. John McCain and his wife Cindy were obviously there along with Joe Liberman among other politicians. Dr. Cernera, (the 2nd photo below) president of Sacred Heart participated in introducing the presidential candidate.

There was tons of state and national press there and I was certainlly not the only photographer. Whenever I photograph events like this, I like to get to a place where no one else is photographing from. It makes my photos more unique and from a different vantage point. I was able to get far above the crowd which gave me a great angle. I got some really great shots that captured the energy and craziness in the room. By the way, just in case anyone is interested, posting these pictures in no way endorses my political views. That being said here are a few photos from the day.

PR Photography

I am often asked what kinds of photography other than wedding photography I am involved in. As mentioned in earlier posts I shoot PR photography for my alma mater, Sacred Heart University. I have been very lucky to photograph and meet some very interesting people. I found some photos that I shot from over the last year. In order below are photos of Anthony Rapp from the Original Broadway Cast of “Rent”, Tiki Barber from NBC’s “Today Show” and the NY Giants, Robin Roberts from ABC’s “Good Morning America”, The Pussycat Dolls live in concert, and a couple of shots from SHU’s undergraduate commencement.










I have also had the opportunity to shoot Dr. Henry Lee, Jack Welch, Dave Chappelle and most recently Bob Woodward, which I just recently posted.

Bob Woodward @ SHU

Many of you may know that I shoot PR events for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. I get to see some really great speakers and cover some very interesting events.

Tonight at Sacred Heart I had the privelage of photographing Bob Woodward from the Washington Post who spoke about his new book, “State of Denial” in which he talks in detail about the Bush Administration. Bob Woodward was of course one of the two reporters who broke the story about the Nixon Watergate Scandal in the 70s.
