WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Award!

Kathleen and I just found out that we were chosen to win a WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Award. We are very excited and flattered, you can read about it here:

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that RJT Pictures has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means RJT Pictures is one of the very best Connecticut Wedding Photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Competition Finalist!!

Before I talk about anything, I have to start off by apologizing to all of our really awesome and loyal blog readers. We have not published any posts on our blog in a little while and to be honest it has really been weighing on us. We usually post far more often than this. We have been sooo busy (not that we are complaining) but we are making time right now to share something with all of you that we are very proud of.

It has long been a goal of ours to enter some national and international photography competitions. We aren’t as concerned at the outcome of the competitions as we are about actually entering. As a photographer, it is a very valunerable thing to put your work out there in the sole purpose of being judged by your peers. By doing this, we feel that it is one way that we continually learn and continually improve on our work. This way we can be better and better for all of our clients.

So that being said, I am so excited to share with you that one of my images was selected as a finalist in the Best of Weddings Competition. We will know if it makes it higher while we are out at the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) Conference in a few weeks. This image that was selected made it as a finalist in the Wedding Humor category, and hopefully you can see why. It is one of those images that makes me laugh every time. Here is the image:

I also have to give a shout-out to another great CT photographer, Sam Chinigo who also is a finalist in this competition. Congratulations Sam!

Kathleen and I also entered 11 of our prints into the WPPI 16×20 competition which we will also know how we placed while we are out in Vegas in a few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed :). We will keep you posted.

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Grace Ormonde Platinum List!!

There are many goals that we set for ourselves (as photographers) and our company; it is the way we keep on track and continually push ourselves forward.  With every photo we shoot we constantly strive to become better and improve on both our style and on our vision.  This way we can always give our clients our best.

We wanted to share some very exciting news as it relates to one of our large goals, (for those of you who follow our blog, this is the big announcement). :)  We are now going to be featured in the Grace Ormonde Platinum List.  This magazine is not just another wedding magazine, it is something much more, something very special.  The images in this magazine are simply beautiful and the magazine really stands out from the rest.  To photographers such as us this magazine is incredibly inspiring, to brides and grooms planning their wedding, it is an invaluable resource.

To be part of their Platinum List you cannot simply call up and pay for ad-space as you can in so many other publications.  This is a by invitation only listing, showcasing an elite list of photographers from all over the nation as well as international destinations.  Becoming part of this Platinum List is something that we have strived for but always thought it would be a while before we were even considered. So you can only imagine how excited we were when we received the call from the staff over at Grace Ormonde telling us that we have been selected to be on this exclusive list of wedding professionals. Kathleen and I were practically speechless after we got off the phone, we were simply blown away.  We absolutely love what we do and this is huge accomplishment and something that is very rewarding to us.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far and always supported us and a special thanks to all of our wonderful clients, this is only the beginning!  We will be listed in the national edition of Grace Ormonde Wedding Style magazine beginning in 2009.  In the meantime our online profile will be on their website in the next day or so, so be sure to check it out!  If you would like to find out some more information about Grace Ormonde, click here.

We hope that everyone is having an amazing week!!

Featured!!

The other day Kathleen & I met up with Candice from Jubliee Events. Candice is an incredible wedding and event planner with a great eye for detail. The funny thing is that her and I actually went to high school together (back in the day) and have now both have the distinct pleasure of working with wonderful couples.

When I got up this morning I went to my blog list (which is usually how I start my day) and was psyched to see that Candice featured us on her blog. It is a really awesome post complete with some of my photos that I took of Allison & Bryan on their wedding day while at the Carnival. How cool is that! We can’t wait to work more with Candice.

If you are need of a great wedding planner or are just thinking about using one, be sure to check out Candice’s site and blog. She is full of great ideas and really knows her stuff. Make sure you let her know that we sent you!!

I hope everyone is having a great week (although it has been a little dreary). Hopefully it clears up nicely for the weekend. Happy Thursday!!

Carolina & Angelo’s Greek Wedding & our 200th Blog Post!!

We just photographed Carolina & Angelo’s Wedding on Saturday and WOW what a day. They got ready at their homes in West Haven right before the ceremony which took place at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange. The reception was over at Grassy Hill Country Club also in Orange.

This post is also our 200th blog post. It is hard to believe that we have had that many posts in only a little over a year since we started this blog. Thank you to all who keep up with it!! Ok enough talking from me, here are some of Carolina & Angelo’s photos from their day!!

Carolina’s dress was very beautiful and hanging it by this tree made for such a fun backdrop. I was actually laying on my back to capture this shot, I love how the sun came through the trees.

Carolina having her veil put on right before she put her dress on.

The flower girl.

This may be one of my favorite bridal portraits that I have captured. It feels so timeless to me and Carolina looks absolutely radiant.

Another one of my favorite bridals of Carolina

There was this great hammock in the back yard and the first thing I thought was that I had to get Carolina to lay on it in her wedding dress. She was up for anything so she didn’t even question it. It made for some different and fun shots.

The bride’s maids were simply awesome!!

Can anyone say ridiculously beautiful? This church was really stunning, this shot was of the ceiling and yep you guessed right, I was also laying on my back for this shot.

This shot was taken by Kathleen. She captured me photographing Carolina & her father walking down the aisle. I really love the expression on Carolina’s stepfather’s face and the bride’s maid in the background wiping the tears from her face.

This shot was also taken by Kathleen, I love so many things about it. This is right when Carolina walked down the aisle with her father, I love her Aunt right in the center wiping away a tear. I also love the composition and overall feel of the photo, it has a grainy film texture to it. Kathleen really is amazing me with the photos that she has been taking!!

This photo was my first attempt using the 90mm tilt-shift lens and I think it came out really great. I love how I was able to control the blur/bokeh. How do you all like it?

What can I really say about this church, I will let the photos show all of the incredible detail.

Also one of Kathleen’s, I love their expressions.

This part of the Greek Ceremony is really emotional, I think it is such a nice moment.

I love this photo, it is obviously of Carolina & Angelo kissing for the first time as husband and wife, but what I really like about it is that their grandmother was so excited to congratulate them that she had to be held back by the priest until they were done. So great!!

The first photo of Carolina & Angelo as husband and wife as they walked out of the church.

Seriously one of my favorite shots, again I was on my back for this one.

Another tilt-shift portrait, I love the feel!

Carolina & Angelo were so happy the whole day, I don’t think they ever stopped smiling.

Thank you so much Carolina & Angelo were letting us be part of such an amazing day. Have an incredible time on your honeymoon!!
