Pumpkin

My Mom recently brought me a picture of Pumpkin, our family dog from when we were growing up, that she wanted enlarged. I enlarged the original 4×6 to an 11×14 and sent it to her today. Anyways, I just wanted to share the picture with you, Pumpkin was truly a great dog and a awesome part of our family.

Melinda & Erin’s Wedding

Yesterday my second shooter Vicki & I photographed Melinda & Erin’s Wedding up in Lakeville, CT. It was a great wedding and it was so fun to share a day with a couple who is so incredibly happy. The ceremony and the reception took place at the Interlaken Inn. The weather was a little cool but really provided a nice winter day for their wedding. There was a nice layer of snow on the ground which really added to their out door photos. Melinda & Erin really treated us wonderful as they welcomed us as guests even seating us with their invited guests during dinner. During the reception they had a fantastic chocolate fountain where they had everything from strawberries, sugar wafers, and cookies to pretzels and marshmallows to dip in the chocolate. It was simply awesome. Vicki captured a great picture of Melinda & Erin’s nephew enjoying his chocolate treat. They ended the day with a bonfire on the property where everyone shared s’mores.

Congratulations Melinda & Erin, have a great time on your honeymoon!!

Getting Ready for Melinda & Erin’s Wedding

Today we are photographing Melinda & Erin’s Wedding up at the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville. It is a little crisp out there but that should make for a really nice winter wedding. Check back either later tonight but more likely tomorrow when I will share with you some of their wedding photos. For now here is another one of their engagement session photos. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

The Album Process

So I should first start off by saying, I have been a huge slacker with my blogging. I have been so busy lately with so many things that I just haven’t had a chance to blog. I will be sharing so many great things that I have been doing with all of you soon.

But first, many people do not know the work that has to be done to create a beautiful flush mount album like the albums that I offer to all of my clients. Other than shooting the actual photos at an engagement session or wedding there are a variety of steps that I follow to create the book. After we pick the photos for the album (something that my clients get to do - of course I also suggest which photos will work the best) I design the 2 page spreads and place the proofs online for client approval. After my clients approve my design, I electronically send my photo lab all of the spreads and individual page so they can be printed. I then receive the finished spreads. This is the part where I really get to see the book start to take shape. I layout all of the spreads and pages in order and make sure everything came out great. After I check and re-check I send the spreads and pages off to my album company for binding and anxiously await the finished album.

This is the time of year where I do the most albums. I have been working on many engagement and wedding albums and recently received the prints for Carolina & Angelo’s Engagement Album. Here is a picture of all of the spreads laid out before sending them to Kambara (my awesome album company). I will be sure to blog more often. Happy Friday!

Flying

Most people don’t know my obsession with flying. In fact if I wasn’t even more obsessed with photography I would probably be a pilot for a commercial airline. Usually when Kathleen and I are on a flight to anywhere, she tries to fall asleep before take-off and I find a good playlist on my iPod so I can have good take-off music. Below I put a couple of pictures that I took when we were flew to Tampa. I even put together a a few shots of when we were landing, I’m not sure anyone will find these interesting, but it is fun for me.

Whenever flying domestic we always try to go JetBlue. They are a great airline with all the fun toys that I like, DirectTV, XM Radio and lots of good snacks, and of course good service. I highly recommend. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Back from Tampa

So I know I said I would blog a lot earlier but I got so caught up with the ImagingUSA Convention that I got behind. Anyways we saw some incredible photographers while out in Florida. I got to hear talks from Joe Buissink (amazing celebrity wedding photographer), Howard Schatz (out of this world under water photographer), Doug Gordon, Kevin Kubota, David Jay and many others. I meet up with the album company I use, Kambara USA and got to see all the new products and ideas out there in the photography industry. I really have some great things coming up this year, so definetely stay tuned.

But for now, I would like to share some more fun pictures from our trip. We went to this one burger place called Big Mouth Burger where they had amazing onion rings and fries (see below) but also had some very fun artwork on the wall. Tampa to me was like a mix between Miami and New Orleans. There were parts of the town that had cobblestone streets and and modren buildings. I also thought the trolley system was interesting, brought an old school feel to the town.

As always, Kathleen made appearences in some of the photos. Here are some the pics.

ImagingUSA in Tampa

So this morning at about 3am, Kathleen & I headed to JFK airport to make the trip down to Tampa, FL for the ImagingUSA Convention sponsered by Professional Photographers of America (PPA) in which I am a part of. We arrived to some really nice weather. There are photographers everywhere and I am looking forward to going to some really great sessions beginning tomorrow morning at 7am. I am going to go see aweseome photographers like David Jay, Kevin Kubota and Doug Gordon among many others.

Since we had some extra time today, Kathleen and I decided to go see the city. They have a very cool trolley public transportation system that took us all over. We found this old part of town that had a feel like Miami and New Orleans combined. While we were their I found this very cool alley way where I shot some photos of Kathleen. Now we are going to call it a night and play a couple hands of cards.

Here are a few pictures from the day, I will be sure to have more tomorrow.
