Today is Jeff & Katie’s Wedding!!

Today we are off to my old stomping grounds in Naugatuck to photograph Jeff & Katie’s wedding (who I also went to high school with). How cool is that!! Check back in a few days for some photos from their day. In the meantime enjoy this one from their engagement session in Vegas. Have a great weekend everyone!!

2008-09 SHU Pioneer Marching Band

Every year I am asked to photograph the Pioneer Marching Band at Sacred Heart University right before the fall semester begins. This year was no different. I usually spend a few hours with them and capture all kinds of group shots as well as a full band photo. Again, this year was no different. I did however let a little of my creative side come out and captured a couple fun detail type shots of the band while I was with them. Here are some of the photos from the morning.

The field was closed as they are doing some upgrades so we were unable to take the group photo in the stands as we usually do. We decided to do something a little different and shoot them from above, I thought is was kind of fun!

The color guard having some fun.

Keira at 5 Weeks

We have had the great honor of babysitting Kathleen’s godchildren (basically our niece and nephew) Aidan & Keira this week. Aidan is now 2 and a half and Keira is a little over 5 weeks, so as you can imagine we have had our hands full. And yes we are really tired. It has been really fun week though and it gave us a chance to take some pictures of the kids. We will have more to post soon but I thought I would share just a few photos of Keira. In case you missed her birth pictures, check them out here.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Stacey & Kevin’s Engagement Session

Fun, great and sweet… just some of the words that describe Stacey and Kevin who Kathleen & I spent the afternoon with for their engagement session. When Stacey told me on that they wanted an engagement session somewhere by the water, I knew just the place. On our recomendation we went over to Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. We really love shooting there as there are so many wonderful nooks and crannies that make for great photo opps. During their session the four of us just enjoyed getting out to the beach and and the incredible weather we had today. Kathleen and I really liked talking, laughing and getting to know Stacey and Kevin a little better.

Stacey had mentioned that they were a little nervous about the session since they didn’t think they were good in front of the camera. Kathleen and I thought quite the opposite, they were incredible in front of the camera as if they did this a million times before. Here are some of our favorites from their session.

We LOVE tall grass and Stacey told us that they do too, so here is the first of many tall grass shots. :)

Kathleen’s view.

The way that Stacey is looking at Kevin in this one is simply priceless.

This is one of my personal favorites, I love this moment and of course the texture of the grass is pretty awesome!

Kathleen took this shot and I was blown away when I saw it, the moment, the clouds, the detail, it is simply beautiful!

My view.

As we were walking towards this building, Kevin said to me that he knew I would want to take photos against it. I really like the texture of the building, and again look at the way they are looking at each other!! This was an interesting place to shoot considering it was a hot dog stand so there were people walking around the corner not expecting to see us there. We had to shoot fast to get the shot.

We were lucky enough to get more than one. :)

So cute.

I was really feeling the extreme blur on this one, it spoke to me.

This is another one of my personal favorites, I can almost feel the energy that they have for each other come through the photo. Who knew there were parking lots on either side of us. :)

Again that look…

…and then a quick kiss on the cheek

A nice not-so-formal formal.

Really diggin’ the sun flare!

This is one is a Kathleen original, I really love the simplicity.

My view.

The water was really warm today so along with Stacey and Kevin, I took off my shoes, rolled up my pants and brought my 2 cameras into the water to get some really fun shots.

Yes this one is blurry but I think that is what I like the most about it, it brings out the connection between Stacey and Kevin. To me it is beautiful.

Stacey and Kevin’s shadows in the water are great!

A fun ring shot.

A kind of “Where’s Waldo” ring shot.

I almost lost my mind when I saw the light coming through the trees.

Ok this shot is seriously out of control. Kathleen captured it and to me everything about is amazing. The light coming through the trees in the background was crazy. Thank you to the people having a BBQ which provided the smoke that made the light so visible.

Thank you Stacey and Kevin for a great afternoon, we are looking forward to your wedding in just a little over a month!!
