Dorothy & Rick’s Wedding @ The Riverview
This weekend Kathleen and I got to go to the wedding of our good friends, Dorothy & Rick. It was very unique for us to attend a wedding as a guest and Kathleen as a member of the wedding party. I decided since we were going there as guests I would bring only one camera body and only two lenses. Of course I brought my favorites, my 85 1.2 and my 50 1.2. It is funny at the time that you bring limited equipment or no equipment at all that these are the times that you need it most.
I got to share in photographing Dorothy & Rick’s ceremony, formals and reception and I had a BLAST doing it. After all this is what I love to do. Kathleen was wrapped up in all of her wedding party duties so it gave me something really great to do.
Their ceremony was held at the First Church of Simsbury and their reception was at The Riverview. The day was absolutely beautiful, I feel so lucky to have been able to capture so much of it while also having an incredible time with Kathleen as a guest.
Here are some photos from their day.

Right on the church grounds there was this really great pumpkin sale. It was HUGE and I couldn’t help but to take some shots. I really liked the colors and the smell of autumn in the air.
There was not a cloud in the sky at the start of the early morning ceremony. While in the church I looked out the window and saw Dorothy’s Dad helping her out of the limo, I thought it was a fun way to capture this shot.
Walking into the church, almost time to get married!!
I LOVE this shot, one of the flower girls walking down the aisle while her grandmother snaps a picture.
Dorothy waiting with her Dad for her turn to go down the aisle.
Finally her turn.
This church was so beautiful and had a wrap-around balcony, perfect for capturing shots like this.
During the middle of their ceremony, one of the flower girls wasn’t able to sit still so her Dad brought her into entrance of the church where they had some fun with the bubbles. So cute!!
Dorothy tearing up during their vows to each other.
Their first kiss!!
Look how happy they were as they walked out of the church as husband and wife.
I just really liked how they were holding each other here.
Isn’t that light incredible!! I got to steal a moment with the two of them before leaving the church and I am so glad I did.
Nothing but smiles on Rick’s face as he looks at his new wife.
Heading off to the limo to go to the reception. Love that veil!!
Dorothy & Rick grabbed a quick kiss when they arrived to the front of the Riverview.
Doesn’t Dorothy look simply amazing?!
Her veil was so great…
…and she thought so too!
I love the pure happiness written all over her face.
The two flower girls were simply adorable.
After some formals, I headed in for some detail shots of the room before all of the other guests came it. I started with the cake and yes, it was as good as it looks.
Rick is a HUGE Redsox fan so Dorothy surprised him by having all of the bar staff wear Boston hats.
Their first dance, I LOVE the emotion in the reflection of the dance floor.
Ok so there is a quick story about this photo. This is Christina, she is one of our friends and a loyal blog reader. She has been giving me a hard time for quite sometime that I have never put photos of her on our blog, so Christina you are officially on the blog!!
If you are a loyal blog reader you may know that I really love chandeliers and I think the Riverview has some beautiful chandeliers. Every time we are there I try to photograph them in a different way to keep it interesting.
Dorothy & Rick cut the cake, I love the look on Dorothy’s face.
This shot makes me laugh.
My beautiful wife Kathleen busting a move as Christina laughs at her… this also makes me laugh… a lot.
Our good friend Andrea (she was in our wedding party) and Christina (again). They happen to be roommates.
This is a photo of all of Kathleen’s college roommates who were at the wedding.
Dorothy & Rick, your wedding was absolutely wonderful, beautiful and so much fun. I am so glad that Kathleen and I shared the day with you and even happier that I got to capture some of the day for you both. Hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon, can’t wait to see you both when you get back.

The more and more people I have “stalk” your blog they all circle back with the same response “what a talented photographer, his pictures are so original there is art in his work”. I personally love how you capture all the minor details and make them known! Dorothy looked picture perfect and of course you captured that!
Love these they really made me laugh to. The one with the cake and the grooms mouth WIDE open is hilarious. Kathleen sure is beautiful. What a lucky bride to have you two as friends.
